The Fastest Accelerating Electric Scooters: Under $600 to Over $2K

Top speed gets all the headlines, but do you know what’s even more important than having the fastest electric scooter? Having the best acceleration. We’ve got the 16 fastest accelerating electric scooters you can buy for the money – from under $600 to over $2K – and we’ve scientifically tested them all.

Unlike eye-watering maximum top speeds, acceleration is something that you use at every stop light. Plus, if you get one of the fastest accelerating scooters, you can leave your friends in the dust, even if they paid more.

The problem for buyers is that electric scooter makers don’t specify acceleration, and you absolutely can’t rely on motor power specs. Fortunately, Electric Scooter Guide has tested the acceleration times of more than 182 electric scooters over the years.

Below, we bring you the fastest electric scooters we’ve tested in four different price brackets, starting from the most affordable and ending with the money-is-no-object category. See the quickest electric scooters under $600, under $1000, under $2000, and over $2K.

For the following electric scooters, we measure acceleration time in seconds from 0 to 15 mph

gxl v2 full

Lightest and Least Expensive

GOTRAX GXL V2 | $279

6.8s to 15 mph

The Gotrax GXL V2 is one of the least expensive name brand scooters you can buy with enough performance for adults. A favorite since 2019, we recently tested the 2024 version, and its new 0 to 15 time of 6.8 seconds beats scooters that cost twice as much.

The GXL V2 is an ideal scooter for new riders who want something inexpensive but functional. It’s ultra lightweight and easy to carry. Best of all, GOTRAX has upgraded their warranty since we reviewed it last, from 90 days, to 1 year on this scooter (and 2 years on their scooters over $499).

If you’re looking for the least expensive entry level scooter with good acceleration, the GXL V2 is a good choice

Least Expensive Scooter with Suspension

NIU KQi 100P | $349

6.4s to 15 mph

Upgrade to the NIU KQi 100P and get suspension, a 10% higher top speed, and 10% more range than the GXL V2.

This the least expensive scooter we’ve ever tested that gives you both suspension and air-filled tires.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, NIU got their start making millions of Vespa-Style electric scooters, are famous for their build quality, and for being one of the very first scooters to come with a 2 year warranty.

For the best reliability, ride quality and acceleration you can buy for $350 bucks, hands down it’s the KQi 100P

Hover1 journey max electric scooter 17 web 3

Least Expensive Dual Motor Scooter

Hover-1 Journey Max | $443

3.8s to 15 mph

Then there’s the Hover-1 Journey Max. Fair warning, the price of this one moves around a bit. It’s on sale right now for $443 but even at full list price of $599 the acceleration of the Journey Max blows everything else out of the water for good reason: it’s got dual-motors.

In fact, this is the least expensive dual-motor electric scooter we’ve ever tested. It’s amazing at hill climbing, and gets from 0 to 15 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. That’s about half of the 0 to 15 time of the new Segway Ninebot E2 Pro.

The Journey Max is no Segway, there’s no app, the build quality is good but not amazing – but when I’m riding the Journey Max, I don’t care! I can’t believe how quick it is for the price, or that you get more than 20 miles of real-world ESG-tested range.

If you want raw performance and fun for the price, I don’t think you can beat the Journey Max.

inmotion climber 15

Best Intermediate Dual-Motor Commuter

Inmotion Climber | $699

3.5s to 15 mph

I’ll start this category with another scooter we’ve just reviewed: the 2024 Inmotion Climber. It turns out that it’s not only the best hill climber for price, but it’s also by the quickest from 0 to 15 mph for the money.

Despite all this performance, you still get really good range. I rode it 21.4 miles in Sport mode on the ESG range test course. And the build quality feels indestructible.

You don’t get suspension, but you do get portability. The Climber is 2 inches shorter and 6 1/2 pounds lighter than comparable scooters with suspension, making the Climber the best choice for maximum power, range, and portability for the money.

teewing gt 3

Quickest Single Motor Under $1000

Teewing GT4 | $949

2.8s to 15 mph

This scooter came out of nowhere and blew us away. It costs about the same as a Segway Ninebot MAX G2, but it goes about twice as fast, with an ESG-certified top speed of 42.3 mph

The single-motor Teewing GT4 beat the top speed of all comparably-priced electric scooters we’ve tested, regardless of whether they were single or dual motors, and its zero to 15 time is outstanding at just 2.8 seconds

Like the Hover-1 Journey Max, this scooter is about raw speed. You don’t get an app, and it’s not the most modern design, but the ride quality from tubeless 11” tires and hydraulic shocks is top shelf.

Just be aware, the GT4 weighs almost twice as much as previous scooters on this list! But that’s because its battery is more than twice the size of the scooters we’ve covered so far.

If you want a quick scooter with the highest top speed under $1000, this is it.

ZT3 9

Quickest Off-Road Under $1000

Segway Ninebot ZT3 Pro | $949

2.8s to 15 mph

Segway’s under $1000 electric scooters are well known for reliability and safety, but not so much for high performance. That’s why it surprised us when the all new ZT3 Pro tied the Teewing GT4’s amazing 0 to 15 time of 2.8 seconds.

But the ZT3 Pro gets an asterisk because you have to put it into boost mode for that kind of acceleration, which takes several seconds and dies fairly quickly. Also despite having 1600Watts of peak power, the ZT3 Pro is firmware limited to an ESG certified top speed of 24.7 miles per hour.

But the 12” tires, ultra-modern design, and world-class Segway app make the ZT3 Pro a compelling scooter, especially considering the introductory price. If you want the latest in scooter technology, highest reliability, and quick acceleration, you can’t go wrong with the ZT3 Pro.

Varla Pegasus full scooter treesjpg 1

Quickest Dual Motor Under $1000

Varla Pegasus | $899

2.6s to 15 mph

This is one we don’t talk about enough. At just 2.6 seconds, the Varla Pegasus has the quickest 0 to 15 time of any scooter we’ve ever tested under $1000.

But this one gets an asterisk too.

That 2.6 seconds was on the 2021 Pegasus with 8-inch solid tires, and those smaller 8” tires may have given it an advantage. The current model comes with 9-inch air-filled tires, and larger wheels means less torque, so we don’t know if it accelerates as quickly.

The good news is that the new Pegasus fixes the main thing I didn’t care for on the original: the ride quality of solid tires. Either way, the Pegasus is very quick and has always been a great deal for the performance you get.

Most Versatile High-Performance Under $1300

Solar P1 3.0 | $1299

2.5s to 15 mph | 7.5s to 30 mph

At just thirteen hundred dollars, this dual-motor sports-scooter is for experienced riders on a budget who want serious performance. It’s not the most modern design, but that works in its favor if you want to use the optional seat, because the stem can be adjusted to the perfect height whether you’re riding seated or standing.

The P1 3.0 has the highest rider weight limit so far on this list at 330 lbs because it has heavy duty suspension and 2400W of nominal power coming from dual motors.

Putting aside all of the specs the metrics, if we just look at the riding experience, Solar’s P1 3.0 might be the most fun you can buy for the price. It just has a really nice balance of power, handling, and throttle control. This is the best choice for a versatile high performance electric scooter that you’re likely to never outgrow.

Insane Power from a Single Motor Scooter

Segway GT1 | $1499

2.3s to 15 mph | 5.5s to 30 mph

The quickest-accelerating single motor scooter we’ve ever tested, the GT1 is the surprise star of this price category. This is so much scooter for $1500.

The GT1 zooms from 0 to 30 mph in 5.5 seconds that’s a solid 2 seconds quicker than the P1 3.0. Its top speed is fast, but it would be even faster if it wasn’t firmware limited. We tested it at an ESG certified 34.5 miles per hour.

Performance aside, the build quality, ride quality and feature set for this price are absolutely unmatched. So what’s the catch? All that performance uses a lot of juice, so If you ride it hard like I do, be prepared to get about 22 miles of range in the real world.

That said, this is a shocking amount of scooter for the money, and if you’re thinking about it… do it soon. I don’t think they can keep doing this price forever.

Wolf Warrior X 2024 2

Most Underrated Performance Scooter

Wolf Warrior X | $1699

2s to 15 mph | 5.5 to 30 mph

Next up is not only the quickest scooter we’ve tested you for the money and also the most stable by far.

We love the Wolf Warrior X for giving us everything we loved about the original Wolf Warrior 11 but in a smaller, more portable scooter. In fact its tested top speed was actually faster than the original big Wolf Warrior 11. My favorite things about the the X are the smooth throttle from its sine wave motor controllers, stability on and off-road, nearly 33 miles of ESG tested range and of course the new display.

The Wolf Warrior X is one of the most underrated scooters out there, and the best choice if you’re looking for performance and stability.

Max Performance for Heavier Riders

Solar P1 Pro | $1899

2.1s to 15 mph | 5.1s to 30 mph

Our final quickest scooter under $2k is the Solar P1 Pro. It looks just like the Solar P1 3.0 in photos, but in person it’s a completely different and much bigger beast. It’s also much faster; the only scooter we’ve tested under $2k with an ESG-certified top speed of 50mph, it hits 30 mph in just 5.1 seconds.

Like its little brother, the P1 3.0, the P1 Pro’s powerful dual motors, beefy suspension and 330-lb rider weight limit make it an outstanding sports scooter for heavier riders.

The P1 Pro is a great choice for maximum performance under $2k, especially if you’re a heavier rider.

Klima cover

Goldilocks Performance Scooter

NAMI Klima Max | $2199

2s to 15 mph | 4.9 to 30 mph

I’m going to start with a scooter that really should have been in our Best of 2024, the NAMI Klima Max

To me the Klima is in sort of the Goldilocks zone for performance. With a 0 to 30 mph time of 4.9 seconds, we’re nudging up against super-scooter performance, but at 84 pounds and with 10-inch tires, it’s a size I can manage getting up stairs or into the back of a car on my own.

The Klima doesn’t have huge top speed, maxing out at 41.6 miles per hour, but I honestly don’t miss it. When I’m out riding I don’t find myself ever wanting to go more than 40 mph on a scooter, unless I have to in order to test top speed. So for the kind of sport riding I really do, even the more aggressive stuff, the Klima Max really takes everything right up to the practical limit for daily use. And because it’s a NAMI, the ride quality is absolutely exquisite.

If you want the absolute maximum performance from a scooter that’s easy to live with on a daily basis, check out the NAMI Klima Max.

segway gt2 electric scooter hero profile shot

Best High-Performance Value

Segway GT2 | $2499

1.9s to 15 mph | 4.1 to 30 mph

I’m not even sure where to start here: the technology, like traction control, Apple Find My, and the Fighter-Pilot style transparent display, the only one of its kind in the scooter world?

Or the performance. Zero to 30 times plummet from here. Dropping almost a second to 4.1 seconds! Scooters in this category give you the ability to launch from stop lights faster than the cars when the light turns green.

But they’re also made also cruise comfortably at cross town speeds of 35 mph or more. In typical Segway style, the GT2’s top speed is limited to a conservative 41.8 mph, but just like with the Klima, for all practical intents and purposes, that’s plenty.

Just like its sibling the GT1, the GT2’s current price is crazy-low compared to the original $3,999 MSRP, and again, we don’t know how long they can keep doing this. You can’t beat the technology and performance of the GT2 at this price.

Teewing Mars 2

Tire-Shredding Intensity

Teewing Mars XTR | $3399

1.6s to 15 mph | 3.4s to 30 mph

Dropping another 0.7 seconds we have the tire shredding Teewing Mars XTR, with a zero to 30 time of just 3.4 Seconds. When I say tire-shredding that’s both praise and a warning. The throttle of this scooter is so intense, that I used up most of the front tire in one week of testing!

The Teewing Mars XTR has truly impressive performance for the money. While it lacks traction control it has some other impressive technology like a telelever-style front suspension, and even a built-in fire extinguisher (though we didn’t test that feature).

Ours came with knobby tires, but having tested it on and off-road, we think the XTR’s obscenely powerful motors and shorter travel suspension would be best enjoyed on pavement with a set of PMT tires installed.

The Teewing MARS XTR may have the best raw performance and range per dollar right now.

Best Off-Road Performance Scooter

Kaabo Wolf King GTR | $3895

1.6s to 15 mph | 3.3s to 30 mph

Kaabo’s flagship has a crazy double-click throttle unleashing 65.8-mph of ESG-tested top speed (until the double click expires). We love that it comes with traction control, but we wish we could have “S”-mode-power and traction-control at the same time.

Launching in S mode with traction control off, the front wheel doesn’t stop spinning until about 40 miles per hour. We love the GTR on-road, but were really surprised how good it is off-road with traction control: tall suspension to soak up the bumps and the shorter handlebars that help keep you from whacking your chin on the bars when you land a jump!

It’s a tall step-up onto the deck, but once you’re rolling, the stability and suspension make it a great choice for long rides. In fact, if the ESG-tested 43.2 miles of range isn’t enough, you could swap batteries in about a minute and just keep going. If you want to ride both on road and off-road with maximum performance, the GTR is the best choice.

Fastest Accelerating Electric Scooter Overall

16Acceleration Times

roadster full scaled

Fastest Accelerating Production Electric Scooter

EMOVE Roadster | $5795

1.5s to 15 mph | 3.1s to 30 mph

And the overall winner is…. The EMOVE Roadster.

Put simply, this is the world’s fastest production scooter. Meaning a scooter that you can order and expect to ship to you in days, or worst case weeks, but not months or years as has been the case with many hyper scooters.

With an ESG-certified 0 to 30 time of 3.1 seconds and a tested top speed of 72.1 miles per hour, the performance of this carbon-fiber-framed monster is absolutely staggering, but depending on what mode you use it in, it can also be an amazing weekend cruiser for long rides.

The power feels endless, but the range does too. I find myself riding the Roadster harder than many other scooters, knowing I’ve got 54.7 real world miles of range in the tank.

If you want the world’s quickest accelerating production scooter, a scooter you’ll actually get when you order it… this is it.

Conclusion

I should say at the end here that some of these choices feel a little arbitrary. As much as I love and believe in the testing we do here at ESG, the fact is that the Inmotion RS is only a tenth of a second behind the Teewing Mars XTR in zero to 30 times, the Roadrunner RX7 is only a tenth of a second behind that, and the NAMI BURN-E 2 MAX is only a tenth of a second behind the RX7.

Are these tiny differences measurable and repeatable? Yes, they are. But can I feel a tenth of a second difference? I really can’t. So while the Inmotion RS, the Roadrunner RX7, and the BURN-E 2 MAX didn’t come out at the very top in terms of acceleration per dollar, every one of these scooters is 100% worth considering.

If you’re shopping for hyper scooters, you’ve got to check out our reviews. We’ve scientifically tested all of these, and we’ve got the data. Remember, don’t ride like me, and do always remember to wear a helmet.
