The RoadRunner RX7 – Best Equipped Electric Scooter of 2024
The RoadRunner RX7 is one of the world’s fastest electric scooters, but more importantly, we think it’s the best equipped production scooter in the world, with the highest spec components we’ve ever seen.
RoadRunner RX7 – $3,899
We’ve called the RoadRunner RX7 the most anticipated electric scooter of 2024, and it’s one of the world’s fastest electric scooters, too, topping out in our tests at 63.2 mph.
More importantly than those honorifics, the RoadRunner RX7 also earned Best Equipped Electric Scooter of the year, because it’s a scooter you won’t ever need to upgrade. All the best components come stock.
There are the four-piston Magura hydraulic disc brakes, the motorcycle-grade, adjustable KKE hydraulic shocks, and the sticky, Italian-made racing tires from PMT.
The RX7 also has the biggest removable battery we’ve ever seen, made with premium Samsung cells; and it’s covered with ice-blue electro luminescent paint for max visibility night or day.
Who Is This Scooter For?
All of the world’s fastest electric scooters are really best reserved for serious riders. Riding this scooter safely requires hundreds of dollars in safety gear, as well as lots of training and experience riding and racing scooters and/or motorcycles, so add those intangibles to an already premium price tag. (Launch price is $3,999 but we’ve heard it might go up.)
While it’s not a ride for every rider, this is one of the easiest to ride out of all the big, fast electric scooters we’ve tested. So, if you have the gear and experience, and think the RX7 could be for you, read on for our full review or check out more of RoadRunner’s official stats at the link below.

Top Speed
The RoadRunner RX7 is incredibly fast – a top contender for the world’s fastest electric scooter.
While we actually saw a max speed of 66.5 in one direction, we always take our top speed from an average of two directions to cancel out the effect of head/tailwinds.
Riding against the wind, we measured 59.85, giving us an average top speed of 63.2 mph.Bear in mind, however, as I noted in our first speed and acceleration runs, we test at sea level, while RoadRunner, based in Colorado, likely sees higher speeds at their elevation, even speeds as high as the 70 mph on their official spec sheet.
Acceleration
Whether the RX7 goes 63, 65, or 70 mph is irrelevant to me as a rider. I don’t think you can feel much of a difference after 60 mph; it’s a matter of bragging rights.
Aside from being dangerous and illegal, it’s really scary to ride that fast on an electric scooter. What matters more to me is having a smooth throttle response because it makes the scooter more fun to ride at every speed. The RX7’s got it. It’s a long throw throttle, so it gives you lots of control and precision.
“Aside from being dangerous and illegal, it’s really scary to ride [over 60 mph] on an electric scooter. What matters more to me is… a smooth throttle response…. The RX7’s got it.“
The RX7 has got huge amounts of low-end torque that propel it from 0 top 15 mph in 1.6 seconds, tying RoadRunner’s new premium flagship with some of the fastest electric scooters in the world off the starting line.
Range
The RoadRunner RX7’s huge Samsung-made, 2880Wh battery gave me 44 .1 miles on the ESG range test course, riding in Mode 3 with both motors engaged.
Our RX7 had a relatively high cutoff voltage of 62 volts, so it shut down the battery a little earlier than some others might, and this is better for the long-term health of the battery. However, the scooter could have covered a total of 49 miles if it were allowed to go to 60 volts like some other scooters do.
Top: The RoadRunner RX7 – Best Equipped Electric Scooter of 2024Braking
The RX7’s Magura brakes feel absolutely amazing, and they should. They use what’s called a radial master cylinder, which lines up the force you put in with the force of the piston. This is really common on super bikes like motorcycles, but I’ve never seen it before on an electric scooter.
This type of braking gives you more stopping power for the same amount of force. The RX7 came to a complete stop from 15 miles per hour in 10.1 feet, and braking was unbelievably smooth and easy all the way.
In addition to the Magura brakes, the RX7 has regenerative braking. This is adjustable, but even turned all the way up, it’s mild enough not to get in the way of the excellent feel of the hydraulic disc brakes.
Hill Climb
With this much speed and power, the question is never can I make it up the hill?, it’s how much faster can I climb this hill than other super-fast electric scooters?
The answer? Much faster, or just as fast, in most cases. With a hill-climb time of 6.5 seconds, the RoadRunner RX7 ties or beats almost every scooter on our list of fastest electric scooters.
Ride Quality
Aside from its huge deck, almost as massive as the biggest, baddest Dualtron X Limited, the RoadRunner RX7 has some of the suspension, with fully adjustable hydraulic KKE’s on the front and rear.
While about 75% of the scooter’s ride quality comes from the suspension, the other 25% comes from these amazing PMT tires, made from rubber instead of nylon like every other scooter tire.
It isn’t just a matter of improved traction (although it’s that), but it’s the way the PMT tires make the suspension better. These tires have better grip, better sidewalls – all I can say is that they’re like a suspension upgrade.
Top: The RoadRunner RX7 – Best Equipped Electric Scooter of 2024RoadRunner RX7: Design, Build & Reliability
The RoadRunner RX7 scores a very high 8.5 on our Reliability Index, a number that averages 11 factors such as warranty length, tire type, UL certification, and battery manufacturer.
While the first 50-100 versions of the scooter, including the model we reviewed, shipped with tubed tires, the company assures us that all current versions ship with tubeless tires on split rims, which make them much easier to change should you get a flat.
You can get a full rundown of the complete scooter specs in our video review further up. In short, this scooter feels like everything you would need to spend a day riding around your city, including a paint job that will keep you safe at night.
While the ice-blue glow of the scooter’s Lumilor electroluminescent lighting seemed a little gimmicky at first, I have to say I felt pretty badass riding around at night with the scooter fully lit up, and people could definitely see me coming from all sides.
A baseball game was just ending during my test ride, and people literally stopped me on the street to ask me about the scooter. Because I was so visible and able to keep up with cars, I felt equally comfortable in the bike lane or just taking over an entire lane of traffic.
RoadRunner RX7: Is It Worth It? Our Verdict
There is a smaller market for a scooter like this because, as I mentioned, the fastest electric scooters in the world should be reserved for experienced riders who own premium safety gear and have logged some time on a race track.
If you fit the above category, the RoadRunner RX7 is an incredible feeling sports scooter that’s well worth considering at such a competitive price – especially because, as we said, it’s a scooter you’ll never need to upgrade. The components are just that good.
Something a lot of people don’t know about the RX7, and in fact, all of the Roadrunner scooters, is that they are designed in Denver, Colorado. In fact, if you ever find yourself in Denver, you’ve got to go see their huge 5 ,000 square foot showroom where you can test-ride all their scooters, check out their service department, and their amazing inventory of parts.
If you’re interested in electric scooters, keep an eye on these guys. Roadrunner is one of the fastest growing brands right now, and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more passionate team of scooter designers. These guys design all their own scooters, and they live for customer feedback. There are more new original design scooters to come from RoadRunner, so stay tuned, and check out the RX7 at the link below!
