How far can you go on an electric scooter? If your only experience has been rental scooters and budget models, you might think, not very. You’d be wrong!

Electric scooters equipped with large batteries, powerful, efficient motors, and comfortable suspension systems can take you as far as you’d want to go on a scooter, and then some.

What kind of range are we talking about? Between 40 and 100 miles is our current benchmark for long range. As you’ll see, premium range comes at a price. All of the long range scooters on the list below cost over $2000.

Which Electric Scooter Has the Longest Range?

When this question comes up, one brand comes to mind: Minimotors. Their Dualtron line of scooters includes some of the longest-range electric scooters ever made, like the Dualtron X Limited, which covered 86.4 miles in our range test.

Coming in around 20 miles behind at number 2, the Dualtron Storm Limited gave us a still-whopping 66.8 miles on a single charge. After these two beasts, the field gets more competitive, with brands like Inmotion, NAMI, EMOVE, VSETT, and Teewing vying for position as the longest range electric scooter in the world.

Minimotors Dualtron X Limited | $5,995

I thought riding a huge, 183-pound scooter for four hours straight was going to be terrible, but it wasn’t because the X Limited is not only the world’s longest range electric scooter – with a massive 5040Wh battery; it’s also the world’s most comfortable electric scooter for long distances.

I’ve done 50 mile rides on other scooters that were harder than the 86.4 miles on the X Limited.

Michael Sha’s NAMI BURN-E scooters are so legendary that all three of them are on this list, with the original coming in at number eight.

The NAMI BURN-E has 53.3 miles of ESG-tested range, at one time the longest range scooter we’d ever tested. It also broke every acceleration record we had at the time.

The BURN-E 2 is $1,000 less than the original BURN-E, and as we joked when we first reviewed it, this scooter is probably too good for the price (shhhh!)

If the BURN-E is the Ferrari of electric scooters, the BURN-E 2 is your chance to get a Ferrari for less, with about three fewer miles of total long range per charge for a max of 49.2 miles.

VSETT 11+ Super 72 | $3,500

The Super 72 is equipped with a large 72V 2520Wh battery that guarantees range for days. On a full charge, I covered 47.4 miles before the scooter cut off.

But wait, as they say, there’s more. VSETT offers an optional 20Ah external battery pack that should (theoretically) add another 27 miles for a total, seriously long range of 74.5 miles, but we have not tested this.

Conclusion

Not everyone who buys an electric scooter needs a long range vehicle. In fact, most short trips – including short commutes, trips to the store, and errands around town – are between 3 and 4 miles. You can save money with a scooter that gets 15-30 miles of range.

BUT, a long range electric scooter delivers the ultimate peace of mind, especially when you want to spend a whole day on your scooter without stopping for hours to charge, or when you want to charge your scooter once for a whole week’s worth of commutes.

Having a scooter with a large capacity battery also lets you slam the throttle and max out speed and acceleration without worrying about whether you’ll have enough power to get back home.

There are a lot of reasons to buy an electric scooter. If range is a concern for you, and you aren’t prepared to spend over $2K, there are more affordable options, like the EMOVE Cruiser, that can also go the distance.
