The Best Hill Climbing Electric Scooter Under $500
Best Dual Motor Electric Scooter Under $500
Hover 1 Journey Max | $496
Let’s start at the ultra-budget under $500 class, where we have a clear winner with the Hover-1 Journey Max, which conquered our 10% grade, 200 foot hill climb test in 12.4s, about 8 seconds faster than most similarly-priced scooters. This is thanks to its dual motors, basically unheard of at this price.

Segway E2 Pro | $499
The fastest single motor hill climber under $500 is the Segway E2 Pro, with a hill climb time of 19 seconds flat, beating its closest competition by over a full second.

Fastest Single Motor Climber
Teewing GT4 | $949
The Teewing GT4, blew us away with a 9.7 second hill climb, with a single motor outputting a max of 2400 watts. This was trumped only by the new Segway ZT3 Pro, which beat it by a tenth of a second. Buy that required putting the scooter into boost mode to unlock the peak motor power.
However, the ZT3’s boost mode can only be used for about 30 seconds or until you hit the brakes, and without it, the Segway puts up a 11.3 second hill climb. For that reason, we give the single motor hill climbing crown under $1K to the Teewing GT4, which doesn’t require a special mode for its hill climbing time.

Top: 18 Best Hill Climbing Electric Scooters for Every Budget: $500-$5000Fastest Dual Motor Climber Under $1000
Varla Pegasus | $899
The Varla Pegasus is the only dual motor scooter under $1000 faster than the Teewing GT4, and it has gotten less expensive as the years have passed, now sitting under $900.
The Pegasus just beats the Teewing GT4 with a 9.4 second hill climb, thanks to its dual motors.
Top: 18 Best Hill Climbing Electric Scooters for Every Budget: $500-$5000Best Single Motor Climber Under 50 Pounds
VMAX VX2 Extreme LT | $999
The VMAX VX2 Extreme is the third fastest single motor hill climber at this price, with a hill climb time of 10.2 seconds, and it’s the best hill climbing scooter under 50 pounds in the $1,000 price class.
If you want something that is manageable to carry around regularly while still being great on hills, this is probably the best option. However, it’s only the lowest battery size that comes in under $1000 price tag, so if you want the longest range GT version, you’re looking at closer to $1200.
Top: 18 Best Hill Climbing Electric Scooters for Every Budget: $500-$5000Best Dual Motor Under $700
Inmotion Climber | $699
The Inmotion Climber lives up to its name with a hill climb time of 11.2 seconds, making it the second fastest dual motor hill climber in this price category, while coming in at just under $700.
If a simple, inexpensive, relatively lightweight dual motor scooter with excellent hill-climbing is what you are after, then the Climber is your best bet.

GOTRAX GX Zero | $999
The Gotrax GX Zero has a slightly slower hill climb time than the Pegasus or Climber, but it comes in as the third-fastest dual motor scooter, with a time of 11.4 seconds.
This is a new scooter, making it more modern than the Pegasus, with more up-to-date components and features. It also has full hydraulic suspension and the best ride quality of all the contenders in this class, making it our choice for the best value dual motor hill-climber under $1000.

Best Sale Under $1500
Segway GT1 | $1499
Single motor scooters are less common in this class, but the fastest one up our test hill is the legendary Segway GT1, which rivals some of the fastest dual motor scooters with a hill climb of 8.8 seconds.
The GT1 is genuinely an anomaly. We have never seen a single motor scooter put up such impressive performance stats. We suspect the GT1 is on its way out as Segway moves to their next generation of scooters. It’s on sale for $1500 and well worth grabbing now if it interests you.

VMAX VX4 GT | $1449
The VMAX VX4 has a hill climb time of 10.6 seconds. Yes, it’s slower than the Segway GT1, but the GT1 only qualifies for this price class because of Segway’s blowout sale.
The smallest battery version of the VX4 comes in under $1200, and the max battery GT version is only $1450.

NAMI Klima | $1599
My personal favorite scooter, the Nami Klima, has an official recorded hill climb time of 7.7 seconds, but that was with ME doing the hill-climb test. You see, usually Paul does the official testing, and he is close to 50 pounds lighter than I am.
I feel confident that the Klima could put up a hill climb time similar to the Dualtron Storm if given the chance with a lighter rider. That would put it at a time of 7.2 seconds, but this is just speculation until we officially test it.
