Circooter claims their Circooter Cruiser Pro can hit a top speed of 38 miles per hour. It’s got dual 1200W motors, hydraulic brakes, and 11-inch tires, all features we don’t expect to see for this price.

The Cruiser Pro also has some nice swag lighting and an adjustable stem to fit everyone, tall or short. The scooter comes with an app, a feature we also don’t see for the money, and it lets you adjust all the parameters and remotely lock the scooter.

The scooter comes in one color scheme, a kind of tan and black, and it goes well with the kind of off-road theme of big tires and tall suspension. As always, we put manufacturer claims to the test, scientifically measuring top speed, acceleration, range, braking distance, and hill climbing time, and assessing the ride quality in a real-world situation.

How did the Circooter Cruiser Pro do? Read on to find out.

Who Is This Scooter For?

This is a good scooter for people who want to ride on bad pavement, off-road, and steep hills, and for those looking for a big scooter with hydraulic brakes at the very lowest price. Size-wise, the adjustable bars mean it’s going to fit anybody at basically any height.

Pros include the biggest tires and the best brakes we’ve ever seen at this price.

Cons: it’s a little heavy, and not the most portable. The Cruiser Pro is a scooter with the performance of a GOTRAX GX2, but it weighs a little bit more than a GX3.

Circooter Cruiser Pro: Performance

Top Speed

post-image-1

The Cruiser Pro is fast, and probably could be even faster if they let it, but it feels like we’re firmly limited to 38 miles per hour on the speedometer.

The Circooter Cruiser Pro’s ESG-tested top speed versus price is exceptional at 34.9 miles per hour, an average of measurements from our data logger in two bi-directional speed runs.

Acceleration

Acceleration is also very good when compared to most other electric scooters, tying the GOTRAX GX2 at just 2.9 seconds.

The Circooter Cruiser Pro has really got a lot going on for an electric scooter that costs $1299.”

In fact, the Cruiser Pro’s acceleration comes very close to electric scooters that cost hundreds more, like the $1,999 Dualtron Eagle Pro, which hits 15 mph in 2.7 seconds.

Hill Climb

Dual motor electric scooters are famous for being good hill climbers. The Circooter Cruiser Pro is no exception. On our ESG test hill, I hit 20 mph near the top, and the scooter was still accelerating.

The Circooter Cruiser Pro is an exceptional hill climber and holds its own against the best scooters out there for the price. It’s got a hill climb time of 9.7 seconds, just a few seconds behind the GX2, Inokim Super OXO, and RoadRunner RS5 Max.

Having dual motors means you’re never going to need to push your scooter uphill. But another thing you need to know if you want to avoid pushing your scooter home is how far it will go in the real world, especially if you’re riding dual motors in turbo mode.

Range

The Circooter Cruiser Pro’s range was 24.8 miles, just edging out the GOTRAX GX2, which maxed out 24.7 in our tests. These results are unsurprising given that these scooters have the same size battery, same voltage, and other similar specs, but the GX2 is also more than 10 pounds lighter than the Cruiser Pro.

Our range test course is the same each time, a 1.6 mile loop. It’s got 91 feet of elevation from the lowest spot to the highest spot. For our range tests, we charge the scooters all the way up, then ride them till they stop.

Braking

Speaking of stopping, I need to stop and give Circooter props for putting hydraulic brakes on a $1,299 scooter. This is the least expensive scooter we’ve ever tested that comes with hydraulic disc brakes. They look just like Nutt brakes, but are labeled Semilog. They’ve got 140 millimeter rotors, great lever feel, and they are really easy to control.

The Circooter Cruiser Pro stopped in 10.7 feet from 15 mph, which is better than average for the price. I think it would have stopped even shorter with street tires. I can feel the traction was limited by the knobby off-road tires during testing.

Ride Quality

For my weight, at 165 pounds, the Circooter Cruiser Pro’s suspension felt a little stiff: great off-road, but on-road, I feel like I could top it out a little when I go over some bigger bumps. But it should work great for riders from 200 pounds all the way up to the rider weight limit of 330 pounds.

Something I really like about this scooter is that it’s got adjustable stem, and sometimes that feature makes the stem wobble. In this case, it doesn’t. You get a really firm stem and an adjustable stem height, so it’s going to fit riders of all different sizes. “

Something else that makes the Cruiser Pro comfortable is the shape of the handlebars. They have just the right amount of upsweep and backsweep and feel really good on my wrists. The scooter’s got a big riding platform, so you get really comfortable on long rides, and the huge footrest in the back is almost like an extension of the deck, it’s so flat.

This scooter has kind of an unusual trigger throttle. I haven’t seen this exact throttle before. There’s a similar one on the Okai Panther. It’s not too far away from the brakes, so I don’t have to split my fingers too far apart to cover the brakes and the throttle at the same time. I feel like control’s pretty good and the overall throttle response is pretty easy to handle.

Then there are the grips. They’re big and round and not terrible, but they’re also not my favorite. They feel a little bit plasticky and don’t have a ton of grip. But that’s the easiest thing to change out on an electric scooter, so if you don’t like the grips, you can easily swap them out for a pair you do like.

Circooter Cruiser Pro: Design, Build & Reliability

post-image-1

The Circooter Cruiser Pro scored pretty low on our reliability scale, just 6.7 out of 10. The score is pulled downward by a lower water resistance rating of IPX4, the fact that there are no parts available on the website, and that their one-year warranty only covers the most expensive parts of the scooter like the battery, controller, and the motors for six months.

I reached out to Circooter, and they said that in January they’ll have all the parts you need on their website. We’ll revise their score upward when that happens.

Also, something you should know about the 11 inch tires is that they come with tubes, so they’re not quite as flat resistant as they would be if they were tubeless, but that does make the tires a little easier to change if you get flat. Something else that makes tire changes easier is that the motor cables can be disconnected close to the wheel, so when you’re doing a tire change you’re not tethered to the whole scooter by the cable.

Cable management is really good throughout the scooter, with quick disconnects for pretty much every connector. There are two charge ports, so if you charge it with the one charger it comes with, you’ll go from empty to full in about 10 hours, but you can cut that in half by buying a second charger.

The display is colorful, relatively easy to see in daylight, and tells you all the usual stuff. The swag lights cycle through all sorts of colors and patterns, but you really don’t get any control over them other than just deciding whether they’re on or off. You can also customize some of the ride characteristics by getting into the P settings, and to do that you hold down the M button for a few seconds.

I like the style of the turn signal switch because you can feel what position it’s in without looking down, and you can hear the turn signals which is nice. But something I don’t love is that you can’t see the turn signals at all from the front of the scooter, and you kind of can’t see them from the back either. You can really only see them from the sides.

One feature you don’t usually get with dual motor electric scooters at this price is an app. With the Circooter app, you can select your speed mode, toggle your headlight, cruise control, and zero start. You can check error codes and update your firmware, and those features will probably expand over time.

I think the coolest feature right now is the ability to lock your scooter. When you do that, the scooter will absolutely fight you if you try to move it anywhere, and it is really, really strong. One weird thing is that if somebody walks up to it, they can’t push it away, but they can turn on the headlight, swag lights, or beep the horn.

The Circooter Cruiser Pro has a super beefy kickstand, and the whole scooter feels really solid.

Circooter Cruiser Pro: Is It Worth It? Our Verdict

circooter 11

With all you’re getting for the price, it’s easy to recommend the Circooter Cruiser Pro to riders on a budget who want high speeds, fast acceleration, an off-road profile, app control, swag lights, 11-inch tires, and hydraulic brakes and shocks. Nowhere else will you find all those features in one place for under $1300.

All that said, you aren’t going to get industry standard warranty coverage from Circooter, and that’s a big caveat from us, hence the lower reliability score. And at the moment, you can’t find replacement parts. And so, for all its awesome specs and great ride quality, we do have to say that you take more of a risk on this scooters than on some comparable models that cost a few hundred dollars more but offer more coverage.

Long term reliability remains to be seen, but Circooter Cruiser Pro does come with some essential ratings we like to see, like an IPX4 for light water resistance and a UL certification for electrical safety and peace of mind while charging.
