Preview the 2025 Segway MAX G3 – What We Know So Far

Coming Soon: An Even Better Segway Ninebot MAX
If you’ve followed Electric Scooter Guide for any length of time, you’ve probably heard us say the words “Segway Ninebot Max” or “Segway Ninebot Max G2” more than any other. That’s because these two scooter models have set the bar for an all-around electric scooter that’s 1) affordable 2) ultra-reliable 3) high-tech, and 4) fast and fun to ride. Well, now we’ve got a new and improved MAX coming, the Segway MAX G3, and it promises to be all those things and more.

With its impeccable qualities you might think there’s been little to improve on the MAX, but Segway has not rested on their laurels.
They’ve kept innovating, and keep pushing the competition forward, designing safer, more powerful, and more reliable scooters, while still remaining affordable to a wide range of buyers.
That brings us to the MAX G3, currently available in Europe and coming to the U.S. soon. We do not have the official release date, but here is what we know:

The Segway MAX G3 seems leaps and bounds beyond previous iterations, especially in terms of tech features and power specs. It’s hard to even think of this as the same scooter, from first glance, but it is an evolution of the design, not a complete rethink.
The specs of the MAX have ramped up impressively in the past few years, while the price of the MAX has remained affordable throughout the model’s history. We expect that will remain the case when the MAX G3 hits the US (additional tariffs notwithstanding).

Segway MAX G3 E: Motor Power & Battery Life
The first Segway Ninebot Max made very efficient use of its 700 Watts of peak power, but the step up to 1000W peak power motor in the G2 made a huge difference to the ride, boosting the 0-15 mph acceleration from 6 seconds to only 4.2. With double the amount of peak power, we might see that time cut almost in half.
As for top speed, Segway only specifies the legally-limited-in-Europe max speed of 15.5 mph. However, with the step up in motor power but battery voltage, we can definitely expect to see higher speeds than the G2’s 21.4 mph. That is, if Segway doesn’t cap high speed for other reasons, as they did with the 2024 Segway ZT3 Pro to give that scooter more climbing power and faster acceleration.

In any case, we’re going to get a Segway MAX that is quicker, faster, and goes farther than ever before, with an estimated range of up to 49 miles in Eco mode and 83 with an optional second battery. In Sport mode, those estimates go down to 40.3 miles and 68 miles with optional added battery.
Segway MAX G3 E: Suspension, Tires & Braking
Some other major changes to the Segway Ninebot Max line include the use of dual hydraulic adjustable suspension in the front and rear, another major evolution from the MAX’s no suspension and G2’s front single hydraulic suspension and rear spring.

To complement this enhanced shock absorption are vibration damping 11″ tubeless self-healing tires, a step up from previous MAX’s 10″ tires.
Likewise, braking has been upgraded, with dual mechanical disc brakes and a single regenerative brake in the rear replacing the front drum+rear regen setup.
The MAX’s original brakes were low maintenance and worked perfectly well, but disc brakes deliver so much more modulation and control over drum and electronic brakes.
Somehow, the MAX G3 E has added all of these upgrades without upgrading the scooter’s weight. The current specs list it as weighing the same as the G2, although we’ll check that on our scale in our testing.

Segway MAX G3 E: More New Features
The Segway Ninebot MAX G3 E has several. other very nice upgrades over earlier MAXes, including a 2.4 inch TFT screen that delivers call and text notifications and turn-by-turn directions, thereby eliminating the dangerous need to ever look at your phone while riding.
This is definitely the safest MAX yet. It has front and rear turn signals, traction control and stability enhancement.
It also has a 6W headlight Segway claims is 3X brighter than the G2, with double the sight distance, an adjustable angle, and auto on/off feature.

The G3 E also now has an IPX6 water resistance level, and its robust battery pack rates IPX7, so you don’t ever need to worry about riding in the rain. This improved level of reliability shows Segway going all out. The MAX and MAX G2 were already benchmark scooters against which we measured so many others. When the MAX G3 finally debuts in the States, we’ll see the bar raised again in real time.
