First Look: Apollo Phantom 2.0

We’ve now had our first look at the Apollo Phantom 2.0 – or an early prototype, in any case. It’s still in beta testing, and a lot of details for the production version are still getting ironed out. But we’ve got a good idea of what to expect when the fully-redesigned Phantom starts shipping next year (more on that in a moment).
Our prototype is gunmetal gray, like the Apollo Pro. The final Phantom 2.0 is going to be black, as a Phantom should be. In any color, it looks like a more compact Apollo Pro, except the deck has a longer, leaner shape to it, and it has a lot of the same features in the cockpit, including Apollo’s now-standard Quad Lock option to use your phone or the built-in dot matrix display.
While it lacks a wireless charging option, the new Phantom will expand even more on the Pro’s innovations with two different flavors: a standard Phantom 2.0 and the Phantom Stellar, an upgraded version with something never before seen on an Apollo electric scooter: hydraulic brakes and shocks.

Disclaimer
Almost everything here is subject to change. Apollo scooters are triple-tested, as they say, logging thousands of miles at the factory, in a beta testing program, and finally, in the labs where they get UL certifications and the highest IP ratings in our database.

Pricing & Shipping
Right now, the Apollo Phantom V4 is on sale for $2,099. The Phantom 2.0 should launch in the low- to mid-$2000s when it comes out on October 10th, and the Phantom Stellar will be priced in the low to mid 3000s when it launches, and that’s going to be a special pre-order price.
The Phantom V4 is available now. Order one today, it ships within 24 hours and arrives in two to six days. The standard Phantom 2.0, if you pre-order on October 10th, will ship sometime in March 2025. And the Stellar comes later – mid-2025 at the earliest.

Apollo Phantom 2.0 Performance Estimates
When the production versions of these scooters come out, we’ll be the first to get them, and we will fully test them for range, speed, hill climbing, and so on. For now, we’ve got a good idea what to expect, and we’ll compare the early version with the V4. Let’s start with top speed.
Speed
The Phantom V4 goes 40.5 miles per hour, that’s an ESG certified number. For the Phantom 2.0, we’re expecting around 44 miles per hour for Standard version and 53 miles per hour for the Stellar version. That’s way faster than any Phantom has gone before.
Acceleration
When it comes to acceleration, we’re going to look at 0 to 30 times. Again, the Phantom V4, we know, goes 0 to 30 in 7.1 seconds. For the Phantom 2.0, Apollo estimates 6 seconds. And for the Stellar, they estimate 4 seconds from 0 to 30 mph. Both scooters, of course, come with Ludo Mode.
So, for the Phantom 2.0 , that puts acceleration along the lines of a Dualtron Victor Luxury, the Mantis scooters, or a Wolf Warrior X. And the Stellar version will possibly be as fast as a Dualtron X Limited from 0 to 30, or a Storm Limited or Segway GT2. That is very quick.
Range
We estimate that the new Phantom 2.0 will cover 35 miles in the real world and the Stellar will go about 42 miles. Both of them have much bigger batteries than the one in the Phantom V4, and they use different cells.
The original Phantom V4 uses 18650 cells, but the 2.0 and Stellar are both getting Samsung 21700 cells. These are more energy dense, so you get more range per pound out of them.
Suspension
We all know the Phantom V4 has quad spring suspension. The Phantom 2.0 goes to a mono shock based suspension and it has just springs at front and rear where the Stellar gets fully adjustable hydraulic suspension, both front and rear.
Now, when they made the original Phantom, they used a shock size nobody else uses, so you can’t get aftermarket shocks for it. The Phantom 2.0 uses a standard size shock, so you’re going to be able to find a lot of other shocks to fit if you want to upgrade.
