How we calculate charge time
Charge time comes from two numbers: how much energy you need to add, and how fast your charger delivers it. Charger power is volts times amps. We knock off about 10 percent for heat and conversion loss, so a 48 volt 2 amp charger delivers close to 86 watts. Divide the watt-hours you need by that number and you get the bulk charge time. Lithium packs then slow down above 80 percent, because the charger switches to a gentle constant-voltage phase that tops off and balances the cells. We add about 40 percent more time to that last stretch. A 500 watt-hour pack on a 48 volt 2 amp charger works out to roughly 6 hours and 15 minutes from empty.

How do you calculate electric scooter charge time?
Take the watt-hours you need to add, then divide by charger power. Charger power is volts times amps, minus a bit for heat loss, so we use 90 percent. The last 20 percent charges slower because the charger switches to a constant-voltage phase, so we add time there.
How long does it take to charge an electric scooter?
Most commuter scooters take about 4 to 7 hours from empty on their stock charger. A 500 watt-hour scooter on a 48-volt 2-amp charger is roughly 6 hours. Big performance packs can take much longer unless they support fast or dual charging.
Can I charge my scooter faster with a bigger charger?
Sometimes. Some scooters support a faster charger or a second charge port, which cuts bulk time roughly in half. Only use a charger rated for your battery and connector. Too much power can overheat cells or trip the battery management system.
Why does the last part of the charge take so long?
Lithium packs charge in two phases. The fast constant-current phase runs to about 80 percent, then a slower constant-voltage phase tops off and balances the cells. That top-off is gentle on purpose to protect battery life.
